Punjabi-Canadian dinner at Rick’s Good Eats

Meeting up with some friends from out of town, I searched up good Indian food in the Mississauga area. Rick’s Good Eats had great reviews so we decided to go here. We weren’t really expecting this to be a fast-food dining experience where you order in a counter. We were hoping for a more casual dining so we can catch up. However, the celebrity photos at the entrance and the availability of merch and frozen, ready to heat meals made us decide to stay. And boy was I glad we did.

Hubby got The Big Crunch (Tandoori Chicken was the month’s special) which was a double battered, crunchy chicken thigh. It was juicy and loaded with flavour, dressed with pickles, coleslaw, Tandoori Mayo and served on a potato bun.

I got the uber yummy Butter Chicken Rice. Chef Rick’s Butter Chicken won the “Recipe to Riches” competition. And it deserves to win! The Butter Chicken was tangy with a little heat, a decent serving of chicken and a good amount of hearty sauce. It was served on rice with Kachumber Salad and was perfect with mango lassi! It was so good, I had to bring home some Butter Chicken lasagna and Butter Chicken mac and cheese for the girls! They absolutely loved this fusion!

Some of us had Tandoori Fried Chicken Roti-Tacos. The roti-taco shells are made in-house!

We also got some dessert samosas, Rasmalai Cheesecake Samosas. The samosa pastry was light and flakey and was stuffed with whipped cardamom cheesecake (inspired by Ras Malai, a  popular Indian dessert). The samosas were deep-fried and tossed in cinnamon sugar. It was melt in your mouth good!

Reviews claim that the Dosa Burger and Samosas were very good too! We have to try those when we come back!

Rick’s Good Eats is a masterpiece of fusion cuisine. This is a must-try, even if you don’t particularly like Indian food.
