Fancy burgers and rolls: Lobster Burger Bar

For Summerlicious last year, we went to Lobster Burger Bar over at King St. The fam had a mix of lobster bisque and shrimp cocktail for appetizer, Crispy Shrimp and Lobster roll and Black Truffle Lobster Roll for mains and Chocolate lava cake for dessert.

The chilled jumbo shrimp was clean tasting, with no fishy scent, and delicious dipped in the cocktail sauce. The lobster bisque was topped with whipped cream and chives and had bits of lobster. It definitely hit the spot.

For the mains, apart from the Summerlicious offering, we got some items from the regular menu. I got a Lobster Burger upgraded with Lobster Fries Supreme while DD#2 got a Lobster meets Beef Burger.

The Lobster Burger had a whole lobster for the patty and was dressed with pickles, tomato, tartar sauce and cheese. Delicious. But what brought it over the top was the Lobster Fries Supreme. This was absolutely scrumptious! The fries were topped with cheese curds, fire roasted spicy peppers then I poured over lobster cheese gravy. Move over, poutine, you got some serious competition!

DD#2’s Lobster meets Beef Burger was similar to the Lobster Burger but had an added beef patty. This came with shoestring fries.

Things get better for me (yes, I know, like how else can this be better?!) with the Black Truffle Lobster Roll. This Lobster Roll was made fancy with sauteed onions, celery, aioli and black truffle, of course. A decent serving of lobster and the toppings were a great complement.

Did I already say that the meals were getting better? Well, my favourite was the Crispy Shrimp and Lobster Roll. It was not a whole lobster and there was shrimp, but we all liked how crunchy and tasty it was! The lobster and shrimp were dusted then tossed in a cajun chipotle aioli. There was a slight kick as we bit into the crunchy shrimp and lobster pieces. You just had to eat another bite and keep going.

The servings were good and definitely filling but we did have some space to share Chocolate Lava Cake. While it was good, there was hardly any “lava.”

Overall, we had a very enjoyable meal with good service. A bit on the pricey side but if you want to up your burger or lobster roll game, this is the place to go.

p.s. For fur parents, they have a patio area where you can dine with your beloved fur babies. They have a fresh food dog menu available.
