Grand River, Paris, ON |
Paris was voted the “prettiest little town” in Ontario so of
course we had to see for ourselves last fall. Unfortunately, we came on a Sunday, which
meant many stores were closed--like many other small towns. The view of the
Grand River was nice indeed but nothing much for us to do. Would recommend that
you go here on a Saturday instead or if you visit in the summer, I believe they
have river rafting activities.
Anyway, we had lunch at The Cobblestone Public House. With
reservations, we got seated with a nice view of the river. The place was
bustling and the service was on the slow side. The availability of board games should
have signified that it would be a bit of a wait.
Grandma and I shared their Feature Hamburger and the Perch.
Hubby got the Mac and Cheese burger. While flavorful, both burgers were on the
dry side. The perch was nice but I didn’t care much for the hint of mustard in
the batter and in the sauce. Hubby said that the baked mac did nothing to
enhance his burger and he should have ordered something else.

DD#2 had the OMG BLT sandwich which was nothing
extraordinary—something even she can do herself at home.

DD#1’s BBQ perogies
were good, though. The cheese-stuffed dumplings with BBQ sauce and melted
cheese really popped in the mouth! This was a good order.

For the price, we were expecting to be quite happy with our
meal. But, if DD#2, whose food and dining experience is not as vast as ours,
commented that the food was not very good, I guess that should speak for
itself. It had some great reviews online, though. So maybe it was just off that
day?
We got some chocolate and ice cream at Chocolate Sensation. One can't go wrong with chocolates! Loved the Mint Sensations.
