Merienda Bakery Favourites

Ensaymada at Tsokolate

I would be remiss if I didn't capture all the good eats I had done in Manila. As I kept telling my friend, food is such an intrinsic part of Philippine culture. Let's not get into how many pounds I gained with all the eating. You can likely take a guess after I finish sharing this. Of course, I had many other goodies, but these are my all time favourite baked treats:

Mary Grace - cheese roll and ensaymada

Mary Grace cheese roll

I love Mary Grace cheese roll (so much so that it made it to some of my wedding photos as our snack after the ceremony!). The roll is so pillowy and buttery and the soft cheese inside is so heavenly. But I discovered something more delightfully evil when my friend and I had breakfast at their cafe. We got the Grilled Ensaymada with queso de bola, cheddar and cottage cheese. Then, we dipped it in their Tsokolate (hot chocolate). What did I tell you? The grilled ensaymada was even better than the cheese roll. It was just as pillowy and buttery but the three-cheese topping elevated it to the next level! The tsokolate was rich and velvety. Perfect!

BBK Bibingkinitan

My cousin introduced me to this mini-bibingka at their Mega Mall location. It was the best bibingka (even if two-bite sized) I've had in a long time. We had the OG BBK bibingkinitan. The texture of the rice cake was perfectly bouncy with just the right amount of salt and sweet. It was warm, fluffy, and buttery. Baked on banana leaves, the aroma was so inviting. It took a bit of restraint to stop eating these mini delights.

Angelina

Another yummy discovery (from another cousin) was Angelina cheese roll--all the way from Pampanga. It was a delicious alternative to my other favourite cheese roll. Hubby super loved their pan de coco. He claims to have eaten 5 in one sitting! Their empanadas are great too! All the goodies were freshly baked and did not scrimp on toppings or fillings. Hands-down excellent quality baked products!

Pounds gained from all of these are so worth it. After all, when will I get the chance to savour these again?!
